This gives rise to Playa de la Fosca and Playa de Sant Esteve de la Fosca, and both belong to the municipality of Palamós. Its name is derived from the presence of this cited and large black rock.
It is about 320 m long and 42 m wide. It is formed by fine sand, and by a shallow beach with a sandy seabed which makes it suitable for children and also has slightly warmer waters.
